Featuring the NY première of James Kallembach’s deeply moving oratorio Antigone for women’s chorus and cello quartet (which interpolates scenes from the Sophocles play with the writings of Sophie Scholl and the White Rose resistance movement) with Mary Montgomery Koppel’s Mother of Exiles (a setting of Emma Lazarus’ words that is now famously enshrined at the foot of the Statue of Liberty) and Joshua Shank’s Saro (an early 20th century English-American folk ballad which tells the story of the immigrant that came to the US and leaving his/her love behind).

Composers NowThe Composers Now Festival celebrates living composers, the diversity of their voices, and the significance of their musical contributions to our society. During the month of February, the Festival brings together myriad performances ranging in genre from jazz to indie, classical to post-classical, experimental to folk, and beyond. Composers will be in attendance at all events.
